Background

Back in August 2018, I was looking for a large capacity backpack that is waterproof so that it can be my everyday carry and travel bag. As such, I went online to search for one and I found the Herschel Barlow Backpack Large. At that time, it looks like a relatively new model backpack and there wasn't enough information, but I decided to try it and purchase one on ASOS.

The Stuff

The Herschel Barlow Backpack Large that I have comes in black. It comes with a rain cover at the bottom of the backpack, micro-mesh water bottle pockets at each side, a top zip compartment, a drawstring main compartment with a buckle in front, and a mesh sleeve for a 15" laptop.

Here are some pictures that I've taken to show how the stuff looks like:

Usage and Experience

I have used the Herschel Barlow Backpack Large for a period of time. I like that the smaller compartment is on top compared to the lower front part of the backpack for most models. This allows me to see more clearly the things when I want to take something out from the small compartment while standing.

The backpack is also spacious hence I'm able to pack stuff that I need for a weekend trip easily. The rain cover is a good thing to have in a backpack, although I have not used it once. I usually have my Xiaomi Mijia Automatic Umbrella with me whenever I'm out with a bag.

I was hoping for a padded laptop sleeve when it came, but it did not. With the rain cover at the bottom of the backpack, this means that I wasn't able to make the backpack stand up straight on its own. Whenever I try to make it stand up straight, it will just slide down. I would prefer to have my backpack being able to stand up straight when I put them on the floor, chair, or table.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I feel that the Herschel Barlow Backpack Large is still a good bag if one is not concern about the laptop sleeve and not being able to stand up straight. They have other designs and if you are interested to find out more, you can click on the link below:
